HD Wallpaper: The beautiful Santa Barbara County Courthouse

One of the things I was really excited about seeing in Santa Barbara was the Mediterranean architecture. I fell in love with it the first time I watched “It’s Complicated.” That movie does a wonderful job of flaunting Santa Barbara’s gorgeous Mediterranean-like atmosphere. Some of the red tile roof scenes in the movie were taken from the Santa Barbara County Courthouse.

With this in mind, the afternoon we set out to walk the red tile roof tour, the courthouse was our first stop. Being that it was a courthouse, my expectations were minimal. I had no idea how beautiful the landscaping and architecture would be. Palms, beautiful balconies, red tile roofs, vibrant green grass — it was absolutely stunning.

We took this photo from the walk outside of the courthouse. Isn’t the architecture just lovely? I don’t experiment with black and white or sepia processing very often. I lean more towards bright hues and natural tones, but when I applied sepia to this photo, I just loved it. Sepia gave the scene an almost “Old Hollywood” feel to it so I decided to run with it.

Pro tip if you ever visit the courthouse yourself: You can actually climb the stairs inside the courthouse to get a glimpse of Santa Barbara from up high. It’s a breathtaking view. A while back, I shared a teaser of my red tile roof video footage from the upper floor of the courthouse. That footage is just 1/4 of what you see from the top. I’ll share more of the view soon. I can’t get enough of it!
