We came across this scene when we were walking back to our car after a full day of snapping photos in Santa Cruz. We were caught off guard when we realized that this dog (a couple had him on a leash) was staring down this baby groundhog (I believe it’s a groundhog – correct me if I’m wrong.).
The little groundhog was so bold that I was worried he might get hurt, but he remained unharmed. It was a good, old-fashioned face off, and I love the way Shane captured the moment. Kudos to the little guy for not letting the pup run him off. I guess someone had to hold down the fort.
