Morning Inspiration: “We’re all different people all through our lives…”
For the longest time, I didn’t quite understand Doctor Who. Shane watched it quite a bit, but it didn’t hold much allure for me. When Matt Smith became the Doctor, I started to take notice of the show, and then Shane coaxed me into sitting through an episode. I admit, I quickly found the characters charming. Jenna Coleman and Matt Smith had fantastic timing and were the best little duo. I started to watch along.
As the last season closed, Matt Smith had the most beautiful quote. It’s stuck with us ever since. It resonated with me. It was these gorgeous lines:
“We all change when you think about it. We’re all different people all through our lives. And that’s OK, that’s good…as long as you keep moving, as long as you remember all the people that you used to be.”
Wonderful isn’t it? Our lives are full of chapters: we grow, age, take on new roles, meet amazing new people, and move to far away places. Sometimes our lives change so much that it’s hard to remember the previous chapters. So we go on creating new ones, hopefully even more exciting ones, and we drag along all of the pieces of the person we’ve always been.
I liked that line as I’m not one to look back much, and it was a good reminder to appreciate all of the other chapters, all of the pieces that brought us to where we are today and to embrace the whole thing. That’s life, and it’s amazing how it unfolds in so many different, unpredictable directions. I’ve sat this quote here, as a reminder, to remember how far we’ve come, and how much lies ahead of us.
