View from the Pier: The Santa Cruz Wharf (Santa Cruz, CA)
Santa Cruz is home to one of the first beaches that I visited when I came to Northern California. I had heard of Santa Cruz so often that it was a bit surreal to step foot in its sands for the first time. Fact: It was the first time I had ever seen surfers which I may have found very exciting, but that’s just between you and me.
As soon as we arrived, we walked the main beach and made our way to the pier for dinner. I had never eaten fresh California seafood before, and I indulged in what were definitely the best crab cakes I’ve ever tasted. The view from the pier was stunning, and the call of the seagulls and the sound of sea lions at play made the whole thing intoxicating. I haven’t visited again since we’ve moved here, but it’s on the list. I’m well overdue for a good crab cake.
